Key Policy

In order for Bark & Purr Pet Sitting, LLC to provide services for your pet(s), it is necessary for us to have at least 2 keys to your home.  Keys will be tested at the initial Meet & Greet/Free Consultation.  If keys are not available to be picked up and tested at the Meet & Greet, it is your responsibility to test the keys and make arrangements with us to pick them up no later than 24hrs before 1st service. We are more than happy to use alarm codes, door codes, and garage codes for access to the home, but please understand if there is a power outage this could prevent us from entering.   

Your assigned pet sitter will have a copy of your key and the other copy will be kept on file at our office in a secure location.  If only 1 key was provided, we reserve the right to make a copy of the key for a fee of $5 which will be added to the invoice.  The second copy allows us to send another sitter if your assigned sitter is delayed or experiences an emergency. We do not use your name to identify your keys.  Our software allows us to generate a code to identify your keys for your security.   

You are welcome to use a lockbox or hide a key at your property.  If you chose to use a lockbox or to hide a key, Bark & Purr Pet Sitting, LLC is not liable for any theft or damages that may occur as a result of your choice to use this method for key access.   

We will NOT lock your key inside the house after your last scheduled service.  Locking the key inside the house could prevent us from accessing your home if you are delayed in returning.   

We understand if you do not want to provide keys at the Meet & Greet and do not wish for us to keep a key on file.  We will pick keys up before service and return keys after service for a fee of $20 for each trip.  We require that keys be picked up a minimum of 24hrs before 1st service.  This allows us time to securely store a copy at the office in case your assigned pet sitter is unavailable on the day of 1st service. If you do not have keys on file with us or use a lockbox at your home, you will need to make sure your emergency contact that lives within walking distance has a key and is available to allow entry for the assigned pet sitter during the designated service window.     

Bark & Purr Pet Sitting, LLC may use the services of a locksmith to gain entry to your home if all other methods to enter have failed.  Any/all fees associated with the use of a locksmith are your responsibility and we will add them to the invoice.
